But would you believe me?

I kid you not! Today in the ICU, runnung a code, I witnessed with my very own eyes.... a doctor! No suprise there, but he had on scrubs. Wait for it.... AND A KILT!
A kilt! Yes! A kilt! Over his scrub pants! Just when I thought I had seen it all! I've seen scrubs and cowboy boots, I thought I had seen it all.
And his scrub cap? Yeah, he had one. And no, it didn't match the blue plaid kilt. It was black with skulls and cross bones. Not what I want to see standing over me in a code situation.
The kilt? Ok. But not the skull and cross bones!
It's good to be me, and no, I did not hand the staff a hospice card.

Bowling

A few weeks ago I got to go bowling with the 2 most recent newlyweds, and one of their sisters. It was way fun, and it turns out I am a horrible bowler! But, alas, good times were had by all

And we're back!

After a brief blogging hiatus, I have returned, new, and improved. Maybe I should concider updating my colors... hmmm....

100,000

Ok, so this was back on April 21st, but I wanted to share that my "baby" has turned 100,000 miles! Poor thing! I bought my car on February 13th, 2003, with a mere 102 miles on it. It had to be brought up from Austin to Dallas, Texas. That weekend, I promptly drove it from Plano, Texas (just north of Dallas) to Los Angeles, California. Then a mere 3 months later, I drove it from Los Angeles to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The long way! I stopped in Houston, Dallas, and drove through the southern states, then up the coast. Poor car! I put a few thousand on it in record time. Anyhow, just thought I would share!

Another before and after

Before: (Don't mind the mess on the floor!) Rather dull shelving, quite not pretty.
And after! I painted the shelves an intriguing "Lyndhurst Mahogany" and added brackets to support all those way too heavy nursing books!
All put back together, add a nicer chair, and presto-chango! I am just so tickled "Tangerine Dream" over the end product!
More as they come, but first, I'm off to go surfing!!! It's good to be me!

Giving

Today, I gave blood.
Good for me! It's a great weight loss strategy, not to mention an interesting way to meet people. Of course, there is the added benefit of helping others, but, hey, I do that all day long, right?
I find it interesting the adversions to giving blood. The biggest, of course, being because of the freakishly large bore needle they jam into your arm. Today they decided (ok, they didn't decide...) to "nick" a nerve. Oy de mi does that smart!!! Luckily, I am all better now, tingle free and not bleeding.
Anyhow, I would love to post more pictures of my home, but, alas, I am at work, and do not have access to my pictures.
Oh! I know another reason I wanted to post! I took a Zumba class last night, and was reminded again that I am certainly my mother's daughter, and also that I am, indeed, white. Which translates to "unable to pat head and rub belly." It was fun, and admittedly it was funny to try to figure out just how exactly to step left-right-left-hop-left-right-left-hop, while waving arms lefthigh-righthigh-leftlow-rightlow-roll-lefthigh etc.
I am glad they do not allow cameras in gyms!!!
