The blooms in the square

Savannah, Georgia. It's still on my mind. I do rather enjoy how cities choose to display their blooms.
Portable beauty. Nice touch.
Here on the home front I have added my own flowers to the front walkway at my parents house in preparation for the arrival of one of my Mom's friends. House looks immaculate, and we have told the cats to quit shedding. But they just blinked at us and went to sleep.
It's good to be me in a nice clean house.

54

Happy Birthday, most fair mother of all!!! Off we go in search of cupcakes to celebrate! I love you!!!

Ah Hilton Head

One of the other "guests."
At the far west side of the island in the marina.

Well, they weren't quite as grand as the yachts in the harbor, but they sure were enticing.

Our own beach. Just off of the resort. Just how I picture the Great Gatsby beaches to have looked. Nothing quite like the eastern rambling dune beaches.

The "Midnite in the garden of good and evil" replica. Interesting story, that statue was actually for a young girl's grave. I did not get the details of how she died, but after the movie came out, so many people were trampling on her grave to see the statue, and breaking it to take pieces of it home that the family removed it, and donated it to a museum, under the condition that it has it's own security guard. So now it does. And locals will not tell where the girls plot lies, but it is now at least not disrespected.
Georgia, georgia. It's good to be me.

Anybody here seen my old friend?

No, it actually wasn't a hotel I stayed at. But it holds some interest and significance.
I realized that I was just a few days early for the rememberance, but that's okay, I'm not a huge fan of crowds. Not sure that there would be crowds, but it was significant just the same.

It seems unfitting that such an important man might spend his last seconds at a cheap hotel. Maybe it wasn't cheap at the time, but it seemed that way to me.

I understand there is a perpetual wreathe of living flowers standing at that spot. This is the one that happened to be there when I was there on that rainy day. Appropriate, I believe.
Admittedly, I thought the cars were quite impressive and probably the "coolest" part of the memorial. It really puts you in the era mindset and added a much more human element to the cold concrete and steel of the site.

So today I pay my tribute to a great man.

And this last picture has nothing to do with Martin Luther King Jr., but rather is in the rest of the song, Walking in Memphis. The line is "Muriel plays the piano every Friday at Hollywoods." Well, there it is!!! Now if only I had realized that on Friday rather than Saturday. Maybe she is still there. I don't actually know.
But it is good to be me, and be alive.

Unbridled Spirit

I did it! I made it to my 50th State of the Union!!!!
That's right! 50! I have accomplished one of my life goals of visiting all 50 states before I am 50.

The turkey picture is for Grandpa D. Thinking of you! Sorry Hal, no hats and cats...
The daffodils were in bloom as were the forcynthia. Beautiful yellow hues.

And the route I took. It's good to be me! Especially now that I've been to Kentucky! Unbridled Spirit. I'll say!

Walking

When I was walking in Memphis, I was walking with my feet 10 feet off of Beale. Or rather, my feet were in boots. The adventure continues.....
