Essentially,

So, yes, school has begun. So I am covered in papers. Essentially, one paper specifically. I am working on a paper/presentation due on Tuesday on an assigned philosophy of education. Essentialism. Just in case you felt like playing along with the masters course, I have included one of the "references" I used to determine which one would be my own "educational philosophy."
Granted, I already have my answers filled in, but you can certainly get your own answers to find out....

"What is my educational philosophy??"

I know the question has been burning in your soul for ages and you are just oh-so-greatful for giving you the tools to become enlightened! Enjoy!

As you can see, I scored highest on "progressionism." Makes for interesting conversation. Cessa & Hensley are Existentialists.

Dim Sum is kinda yum

I found a dim sum place by my house, pretty cheap too! This is what $5 will get you...
So can I mark down an adventure for the week? Don't ask me what the dishes were, check the reciept! Tasty though! I had the option to order ducks feet, chicken feet, and other various goodies which I am sure the kitties would have liked, but I'm just not quite that bold!

5k

To answer the question, YES! I did it! I finished it!!!! Here's my ribbon to prove it!
Here you can see our chapter president and secretary getting ready for the race. Standing behind her in the black, making the face, is our previous president! Oh yes, we were all so glad to be up and ready to run at 6:30 in the morning.
Champions, I tell you!

And, no, I am not going to post my time. Maybe I will after my next one. Then you can see how much I have improved. That is, if I EVER do that again!

Congresss

It was a beautiful few days to have all the oncology nurses come into town for our national meeting. Turns out, it was international as well. These ladies were from the Netherlands. Very cool! They liked our surfboard, and I took them out for a very Californian lunch: In N Out!
Then up to Mt. Soledad to show off our town.
The theme was "Wild about Oncology Nursing" and so we took some inspiration from our local, world known zoo.
It was a great few days; informative and rejuvinating.
Next year, it will be in Boston. I'm already thinking about it!

Mountain bike ride

Who knew there was actually water in San Diego? Well, I found some! This thistle reminded me of the trip to Scotland with my mother and Grandmother.

Seeing green in San Diego is a rare and treasured time. The mustard plants in bloom were simply savory.
I had a great ride, one of many to come.
It feels so good to be out in nature again!

Latest ride

I made it out to do the loop in Pine Valley last weekend. I was suprised to see that there was still some water in the stream.
All in all, it was a great ride.

Not a cloud in the sky! Good times!

More nurses week pics

For the sheer "aw" factor...
