Miss Emma

As I may have emtnioned before, people have been exploding children out of their bellys. This is one such "population exploder." Miss Emma Jane. Born July 31st at 01:00 a.m. or so. She looks so incredibly much like her daddy, which is a little scary. I was expecting her to have blonde hair and blue eyes, so when Heather (her mommy) instroduced me, I was rather taken aback with the dark brown hair. Out of the 9 babies, there is only 1 other brown haired child in the mix.
She is still cute, despite looking like her father (hahahaha!) and makes just the most adorable noises and stuff, so I included a video for those of you who need a baby fix. Personally, I'm just about to vomit with all the baby cuteness and pink. New baby in my life count: 9. Pregnant friend count: down to 3. (another one just announced it yesterday. Ugh.)

Wednesday afternoon

I took a rare moment to play tourist at Balboa park, where, during the summer, they have free concernts. I had marked it on my calendar because on this particular Wednesday night, they were playing Big Band music. The "orchestra" did a top notch job, and the audience got into it, for the most part.
I particularly enjoyed this little boy dancing with him presumed mother. He was just learning the steps. He had actually asked her to dance, which was refreshing. I can only imagine how she beamed to still be cool enough in her young sons eyes to dance with.
Afterwards I took the opportunity to get a nice walk in around the park.

It was a rather nice evening. I also got a kick out of this couple and their 2 s0ns. It was clearly "date-night" and they were determined to enjoy themselves, not missing a beat despite "kid intervention."

Floor

I finally got the floor down in the guest bath. It matches Hensley. He is happy.
I am happy. It's good to be me with a floor that matches my cats. LOL!

New mirror

I finally got around to taking down the old, ugly mirror, painted the rest of the wall, and hung up this mirror instead: I'm rather happy with how it turned out, despite the sink not being directly under the lights.
When the people who lived here before me remodeled, they changed the location of the sink, but not the lighting. Ah well. (and to RW, I deliberately left in the toilet in this shot just for you!)
I also did some restructuring in the living room to get my TV up off the floor. Now that I am in school, I have cancelled my cable so I won't have as many distractions, and having my smaller TV out is more conducive to studying.
That's all!

MiniMental Vacation

I wish I were here again: Alaska. Just 6 short years ago I was there.
It was freeing. And no, that is not a typo. It was quite warm.
Of course, it was July at the time.

Great trip. Sigh.

Food adventures

I've been doing some food adventures. I go to the store, I buy a piece of produce that I have never used before, and usually have no idea as to what it actually is, and then have to make dinner with it. This time I unfortunately forgot to post a picture of the actual vegetable in question.
But this is what I made, and someone finally told me it was a leek. Hm. Ok. Well, lets not use those again. At least not in conjunction with stirfry, mushrooms, peas, sprouts, and onions in a stir fry.
Ah well, I tried.

1st 1 year old friend of the series

I've pretty much had 1 friend give birth to a child every month since January of this year, and the pattern is not going to be done until September. For now, though, 1 friend had his baby last August, giving me a 4 month break before the baby-boom series began. That baby, Sadie, just turned 1. She just learned how to walk last month too! And here she is:
What better way to celebrate a first birthday in August than a pool party and cake!
They had pinwheels for favors, and she simply couldn't get enough of having me blow on it to make it spin for her. Anything for a princess, no?

Good times were had by all, and it was good to be me, and for her it was good to be a 1 year old princess for a day!
