Art on the walls

Walking around San Telmo (a neighborhood of Buenos Aires) proved to be colorful and cheery.
Morbid? Nah. If only everyone could see death as this fun, it would sure make my job a lot easier! Ha!

Strange serpents (with my initials) drew my attention

I was fascinated by how stacked the living quarters were and wondered how much it cost to live in one. It reminded me a bit of Stockholm, but with no color.

I have always been a fan of iron work. This neighborhood was no exception.

From a distance it was just black protection. Upon closer examination, it was definitely protection!!! This was one grumpy lion. I sure didn't want to break in!

Across the street was a charming park, and the couple was unknowingly obliging to add their presence to the romantic mood of the tree tunnel. Funny story, when I was in Hawaii with my grandmother many years back, we drove up and down one particular path looking for the "tree tunnel" marked on the map. We did not see any trees you could drive through, as I was expecting, having had gone to the Redwoods in northern California. On our third pass, I remarked that driving through all these trees (much like in the picture) was much like driving through a tunnel. Insert palm to forehead moment. We were in the tree tunnel!!!

I had originally planned to walk down to La Boca, but weather and time got the better of me and I headed back through San Telmo again, delighted by the colors.

As I had mentioned earlier, I was definitely erring on the side of caution. I had no plan to be out alone, in a city I did not know, after dark. Alone. By myself. In a new city. No way, no how.

I was so glad I had seen tango dancers in Argentina, as I did not go to any shows, and had NO intention of going out ALONE in a city I did not know to see some real dancers. There is a place by my house which would be glad to teach me should I get the inkling. Better safe than sorry, right?

As I wandered back through, I started to get a bit cold and hungry. Next post... my next food and drink adventure. With an unexpected twist!!!
