Waiting for the baby

Kati and Kirsi invited me over to hang out on an afternoon while we wait for princess #2 to make her entrance into the world.

Kirsi is getting so big and fun!

She amused me by singing along with her movie, dancing, pulling out all her toys to show me and...

...inviting me to a tea party! What fun!!!

Day 7: Guatemala to Belize (June 7th, 2012)

I had my new headband from Guatemala, and decided to stop by the Belize Zoo.

No where near the size of my own zoo, but so much more intimate, and way, way less tourists!

The prices: Adult visitors: $15 (US). Child Visitors: $5 (US). Belize adults: $2 which is $1 in US dollars, and Belize children $1 which is 50 cents in US money.

They had a manatee skeleton...interesting!

and they had birds...

...and smelly boars...

...and pretty Puma kitties...

...with beautiful eyes...

...and beautiful teeth!!! (which she showed off when she yawned!)

...and pretty birdies...

...and handsome Jaguars named Junior.

Junior was raised in the zoo. He is named after Junior Seau! (or so I suspect they only tell the US visitors) For an extra $50 (USD) you could go into a cage in his cage and he would sit on top of the cage and you could pet him. Hmmm...

...For an extra $5 you could feed the Macaws, a much more colorful, and safe, alternative!

These two were hungry little buggers, but very cool to see so close!

feeding 2 at a time!

I can't remember what this guy was, but he made the cutest little noises in his sleep!

You can see the fence, equipped with an electric fence. Good thing Junior was nice!!! Beautiful kitty!

Yes, the Belize zoo was a nice stop to see some of the wildlife up a little bit closer (and safer)

Christmas 2011

Grandma will probably not like these pictures being posted of Christmas morning...
...but the look on her face when she opened.....
...her new camera was such a delight!!!!
Grandma made her chicken and noodles for Grandpa and I. You can see the home made noodles on the right side of the screen.
Grandpa even put on his "best" Christmas sweat shirt for the spread.
It was such a lovely dinner!

Day 6: Guatemala and back

Guatemala, here I am!!!

The day had been long, tiring, and fantastic! A chicken mole dinner hit the spot and off to bed I went.

It was a beautiful hotel, and I went for a swim under the waterfall before meeting the guide and his girlfriend for breakfast.

Cute pancakes! They tasted sweeter than the pancakes I make at home, but these were just so much more adorable than the ones at home, don't you think?

Room 22? Good number! I slept like a rock!

After a quick swim, I walked around the city a little to pick up a few things, like postcards and other assorted little gifts.

I don't think it matters what country you are in...bouganvilla is beautiful!

Such a quaint, picturesque lobby.

And then back on the road!

Belize used to be British Honduras until, like, 1984 or something (oh, but my history is aweful! I'm probably way off on the date). ANYhow...Prince Harry had apparently just been there to visit. Shucks. I missed him!

I did find the arrival "Hal" to be a nice touch. Hi Grandpa!!!

Being the nurse that I am, I was interested in the cemetaries. This was shot through the window as we were driving. The plots are all above ground, but I was particularly interested in the bright colors. This one was in Belize. The ones in Guatemala were so much brighter! I wished I had snapped a pic of on of theirs.

The orchid was a nice touch at lunch.

And just a hint as to my next stop before going back to my own hotel....

stay tuned!!!
