In old days...

I may have looked like this. A black and white of me as the Scotish Lassie, Sarah of the Clan Stuart!

Zoo day!

My zoo pass expires soon, and it was a beautiful day out, so off to the zoo I went.

I do believe it was one of the hottest days in San Diego history! At least it felt like it.

All the "jungle kitties" were sound asleep on their backs, paws up, silently begging to have their exposed bellies scratched. I forgot to take a picture of that, though. My bad!

Quite the enjoyable day!

How did you do it?

I had someone ask me how I did my hair, and of course the more interesting question is how did I do Margo's hair? Hers turned out so much better anyhow!

Lady Sarah of the Clan Stuart

The Enchanted Shire entrance, with the lovely "Lady Sarah of the Clan Stuart" about to grace the festivities with her presence.

We were in presence of royalty, the Queen of England herself, with her handsome court.

Margo, I mean, "Lady Mallory of the Chateau" of Swan Lake (as I teased her)was true nobility as well, stunning in her glory and beauty.

Ay, and the foods! Turkey legs hit the spot!

Two lovely ladies, and we were greeted by handsome gents in perfect attire. When did that look go out of style? Such a pity!

I found a wall with centuries old skeletons, skulls and crossbones, so, of course, had to take a picture with such a pleasant backdrop.

And, aye, there was jousting. The 4 time world jousting champion was there, and he particularly fancied our Lady Mallory of the Chateau. I, myself, was chosen among all the fair maidens, was given a long stemmed red rose, and brought to the front so "My Knight" could present the lady (me) who he would fight in honor of! His devotion was paired with a kiss, and fight he did! I blushed. I'm pretty sure my face was the color of my bodice! He got knocked off his horse by the 4 time world champion jouster. Well, at least my honor was jousted for! I simply must add "Had my honor jousted over by a knight in shining honor after a kiss and a rose was bestowed" to my life resume. Flattering!

Our Lady Mallory was jailed by the town Constable. Her crime? Being too beautiful! Her retort? "Unhand me vile sir! This is beneith my station!" Brilliant! I finally bailed her out. Nobility should not be burdoned with the company of commoners, crime committing ones to boot!

We did make friends, the Queen herself, was thoroughly impressed, and even felt we should join them in the courts in the future. Such flattery.

It's good to be me in any time period. Huzzah!

Hurray for.....

Crystal, her boyfriend Brian, and I headed back downtown for the 24th Annual UCSD Dinner Dance.

Theme: Dancing with the UCSD Stars

After dinner, we did dance!

And got some Blackjack in too.

Of course, who can resist a Hollywood sign photo shoot?

Not us! Good times were had by all!

Seriously

I checked my mail again, like I usually do. I know I just had a birthday, and I know 31 may seem old to some people, but my curiousity was fantastically piqued.

I mean, COME ON! 31 is not that old!!!!

So I guess I am entirely, legally, technically a Card carrying AARP old fogie. Now, where's my cane?

31

I finally got around to getting some pictures up! The morning started with presents! What a great motivator for getting out of bed! My friend, Andrea, had sent me a card organizer, and journal with a way cute card with fish and an octopus. I had to laugh at the box it was sent in. Gotta love nurses! It was a box which had previously contained syringes! I had to smile that she wrapped the box in plain brown paper, and could just imagine trying to ship something like that, unwrapped!

Then it was off to the spa!

Warning!!! Steamy pictures ahead!!!

I actually met 2 other girls with the EXACT SAME BIRTHDAY AS ME! SAME YEAR AND EVERYTHING! Of course, I had to take a picture with them!

And then, of course, ICE CREAM!!! Between all us girls (and the 2 husbands that got dragged along and managed to not get in the picture) we did get to try 31 flavors!

So, yes, it was a wonderful birthday all around!
