Take a hike

Crystal came down for the day a few weekends ago, and we like to get out and do stuff. This time, we decided to climb a mountain.
Perseverance!!!
Wished we could flutter to the top!
Long ways up!
Yes we DID make it to the top!

It's so good to be me when friends are in town!

LJ Rough Water Swim 9.12.10

I finished it! I did NOT come in last place! And, most importantly, I had fun. See those yellow and red balloons? 2 sets of them? Yeah, well, that's the KIDS course. If you expand the picture, you can see waaaaaaaaaay out in the distance the balloons I was swimming to and around.
A mile long swim, and I came back to this finish line.
And I was presented with this:
Because somehow I got to be right in front of the 4 time 1st place finisher at the beginning of the race. When the starter gun went off, all plans to leisurely get a comfortable start went out the window and I SPRINTED as hard as I could to keep from getting swam over.
I was ahead of the 4 time 1st place finisher for a good 20 seconds, and I am proud of that! :)
I finished the race in 43 minutes and 2 seconds. I was 23rd in my age group, and 273rd out of all the women. I'm not sure how many women swam, but it doesn't matter. I FINISHED IT!!!! I was NOT LAST PLACE! And I had FUN!!! It's good to be me!

Taking the time

I took today to take the time to stop and smell the roses. This one in particular was lovely. It was a rather beautiful (although "cold", being 68 degrees) day, my house was clean, my cats fed, and my energy level elevated. So I grabbed my bike and headed to a tropical, getaway island.
Coronado.
OK, so it's not that far, but it freed me up to play tourist. I saw this lovely townhome for sale. Can you guess the price?
Pretty "cheap" for a 3 bedroom home!
I simply delight in looking at the architecture of the different homes. I lazily rode down the practically empty street, letting my eyes feast on the jewels that I will likely never be able to afford, but certainly can admire.
Some of the signs in the front yards were fun. I LOVE water polo! This next picture is specifically for my dad:
I knew he would appreciate the bonsai garden on the terrace.
This house certainly did not suck to live at! If you look closely, from the front door, you can see straight through to the view of the San Diego skyline.
It must be nice. This house, too, had a to-die-for view:
It was located just next to this romantic, petite park that I had never heard of or seen before.
This is the view from the quaint park. Not too shabby. There was one couple sitting on a blanket with a bottle of wine and homemade snacks to share as the day slipped away.

Of course, I would have bought this house on the other side of the park, with the same view, but had A MERMAID!

View of the rest of the house:

This next house was excited for someone to come home. Not sure from where, but I liked the familiar family feel it had.

Red doors seemed to be the theme for this street:
Little million dollar bungalos like this one were simply delightful. I especially like the red pathway leading up to the front door.

This next house was on the market for a mere 2.8 million. Wanna just go ahead and buy 2?
Of course, you simply cannot go to Coronado without stopping by the most important spot:
Ah, the Del, in all it's splendor!
It's good to be me on a day that I can enjoy playing tourist!

back in the days...

I just wanted to take a trip down memory lane. This picture was taken back in 2001, a few months before I graduated from college with my BSN. There was a park somewhat close to my house that had an *excellent* bike path. It had hills, dips, twists, turns, trees, a stream, a meadow and was very rarely visited, which made for less "oops! look out! don't hit me!-s" probably because it was usually so bloody hot there in Texas. This particular day, my friend Scarlet, and I had decided to go out even though it had just rained, heavily, the day prior. We were covered in mud by the end of the day, and it was just simply a blast! My father just sent me this same bike, which is my absolute favorite! Good times. Good times.

It's working!!!

The humming bird is actually using my humming bird feeders!!! I caught a picture of it through the screen door! It really is the simple things in life, isn't it?

Miss Emma

As I may have emtnioned before, people have been exploding children out of their bellys. This is one such "population exploder." Miss Emma Jane. Born July 31st at 01:00 a.m. or so. She looks so incredibly much like her daddy, which is a little scary. I was expecting her to have blonde hair and blue eyes, so when Heather (her mommy) instroduced me, I was rather taken aback with the dark brown hair. Out of the 9 babies, there is only 1 other brown haired child in the mix.
She is still cute, despite looking like her father (hahahaha!) and makes just the most adorable noises and stuff, so I included a video for those of you who need a baby fix. Personally, I'm just about to vomit with all the baby cuteness and pink. New baby in my life count: 9. Pregnant friend count: down to 3. (another one just announced it yesterday. Ugh.)
